Rafting-The Main Salmon-July 2012

We had hopes of doing a Main Salmon trip this year with our friend Ty and his wife Stephanie.  We were pretty bummed out when a month before we found out there wasn't room for us to go.  We were even more excited though when they called a week before and said some spots had opened up for us.  We were dying to do the trip and excited to hang out with Ty and Steph and make some new river friends as well.

I was so lucky to have some of my co-workers pick up some slack with me leaving and trade around some call nights, as well as work extra days for them.  I totally appreciated their willingness to help me take time off, I seriously love the ladies I get to work with.  Dave was able to get time off work too short notice too.  In the end it was definitely well worth the hassle!  We were the only two on the trip that hadn't been rafting together before so we were a little hesitant coming into such a tight knit group of boaters.  In the end we were so sad to leave them not knowing when we would see them again.  We loved getting to know a new group of boaters and right from the start everyone was totally welcoming and outgoing.  We hope we get to go on a trip with them again soon.  By the end we were all great friends and completely enjoyed everyone's company.

There were 27 people on the trip, but with all the organization and planning beforehand it was totally manageable.  Everyone was completely independent, brought personal gear to share with the group and pitched in when setting up and taking down camp.  We showed up with some tables and a couple other pieces of gear and didn't have to dump a toilet at the end which was great.  It was a fun experience to go with a group that had a routine of their own and we picked up some new ideas we could do in the future on our own trips.
The best hot springs on any river that I've seen, there's a drain you can pull to empty it when you're done and then it fills up for the next group.
