So did I mention I think my mom is pretty much the "coolest" mom around? We have had some pretty fun adventures in the past and a couple weekends ago I had had it with Dave's work schedule; meaning that I was feeling desperate to do something fun before heading back to work the next week. So my very nice, understanding and open-minded mom was willing to go 4-wheeling. Only problem when she showed up with the truck, Dave had locked the trailer hitch - agghhh, darn his safety conscious mind sometimes, but at the same time I love that about him, so with Dave away on a job with the key in his truck we hauled my brother Mikes trailer to the house, in the process, gasing up the truck, getting the 4-wheeler on the trailer and getting out of town despite scary looking clouds looming in the direction we were headed, we were gone. We went up to Yellowstone Canyon and my mom had never been there so it was fun to show her around.
We had quite the time, everything was fun and games until out of nowhere the clouds were black all around us and we were about 2 hours from the truck...well you can guess what happened next the rain really came down, along with hail and a lot of wind. We were pretty much unprepared too since we're not boy scouts. Luckily my mom had the ingenious idea of taking my socks off and using them for mittens which she had to do for me because my hands were frozen from driving, then I would stop every ten minutes and put them next to the exhaust to warm them up which worked surprisingly well. Some of my favorite lines from my mom were: "Is the hail hurting your face too?", and I yelled "YES!" in addition to: "Are you sitting in a puddle too?" to which I replied "YES!" We were soaked from the waist down and so cold by the time we got back to the truck, but had a blast, thanks mom for being such a good sport on my crazy/unprepared adventures....next time we will have full body rain suits or something.
