We woke up early Saturday morning and headed out where we met up with Mike and Jeff who had gone down the night before. We unloaded the jeep and headed out for Kane Creek. I got my first lesson in head banging on the way out of the parking lot when dad hit a speed bump and my head smacked the bar directly above it, ouch! From then on, anyone riding in the back of my dad's jeep had their arms above them hanging like a monkey in case they had to defend themselves from the bar. Kane creek is such a fun ride the water was low and it was a really hot day, so halfway through we stopped and Gunner got to take a dip, we headed on up to find about a dozen jeeps snaking their way up the boulder field hill. As we made it up that first big obstacle we could see a jeep that had tumbled down a steep hill off to the side. We had never done the trail all the way through and it ended up being a lot longer than we thought, we made it back to town after about six hours of riding and went to Zaks for some pizza dinner. We then went to swim with Mike and Des at the hotel. It was such a fun day, I love that my family loves to go on adventures together and I love my cousins kids!
This is one happy guy, dreaming of his own someday |
Mike's green machine that he painted himself. |
Jason's jeep, the pictures don't do the steepness of the terrain justice unfortunately. |
Believe me we all wanted to jump in, it was so hot all day. |
Sunday morning we woke up to do some Arches canyon hiking where we hiked to delicate arch, it was another hot day but luckily we had some cloud cover this time. We then headed back down to ride another trail.
After Kane Creek, we did poison spider mesa along with the Golden Spike and Golden Bar. We didn't realize how long this trail would also take and didn't make it back to camp until 11 p.m. when everyone headed to maverick for some hot dogs and nachos because everything else in town was closed. The trail was sweet though, Mike ended up having to leave his jeep behind at the start, but jumped in with Des on the RZR they had rented with their two kiddos in the back. The trail was difficult and long but it was also fun to have it rain a little along the way and be out jeeping under the stars too.
