Rafting-Westwater-November, 2010

We went and rafted down Westwater this last weekend and lucked out with great weather, it was 70 degrees and blue skies with no wind.  Dave came home Friday after I had bought the food for the lunch, classic river wraps, and it was a hurry and put together another boat for Charles, throw everything in the truck and take off as soon as we could.  It was about 6 o'clock and we were going through Price when Charles called to tell us that his ride down from Ogden had forgot about him.  We ended up waiting at the Wal-Mart there in Price for a couple hours until he made his way down.  I read magazines while Dave had a lengthy conversation with his Mom on the phone all about Thanksgiving weekend.  Charles made the drive safely and we all piled into the truck and made it to the put in at midnight where Curt, Zach and Chris were all waiting up and helped us unload boats and boxes and set up our tent.  Everyone else made it there by the next morning and the 12 off us pushed off.  It turned out to be a great day not as many people were on the river compared to the same time last month.  We waited a few times for kayakers to get back into their boats after getting tossed out, stopped and had lunch then an hour and a half later of flat water rowing brought us to the take out.  The group was so fun and laid back and it definitely didn't feel like November down in the canyon, it was a beautiful fall day.
Dave and I were talking about how nice it is to get away for the weekend and have a little adventure before heading back into another work week and how it is such a sanity saver.  Dave definitely needed it with his crazy work schedule lately.  This new job has kind of thrown him for a loop, well both of us actually, I think he has been working 80 hour weeks and most of it has been typing numbers into excel and doing fun things like making spreadsheets for presentations to oilfield companies and driving a ton of miles everyday out in "The Patch".  It was great to hang out with some old friends from Cedar City days and forget about work and worries for a day, which is always easy to day when you're floatin the riv.

You are in big, BIG, trouble for spending your time in Walmart in Price waiting, instead of calling me and coming to my house. I am offended. Herrr-umphh! You better come by next time.

Glad to hear that you guys were able to get away from work for awhile.
Hopefully one of these days I can get back on the river with everyone.
