Little Red

Emily and I after the race with our tiaras
After our trip down the river the weekend after I had signed up to do little red up in Logan.  It was my first organized bike ride and I was pretty nervous and worried that I was going to make a total fool of myself.  I decided what they hey anyways I'll go for it and it was an opportunity for Dave and I to take off and hang out with our long time friends.  The race turned out to be a lot of fun, there were about 8 of us girls that were riding together and it was my first time riding single file and taking turns leading and it is about a million times more fun than going solo.  One of the riders crashed in front of me about 15 miles into the race and I didn't even have time to react and I went down also, luckily no one was really hurt other than a little road rash on the other girls chin.
We took advantage of all the pit stops and I decided that I would try to break my record for how many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches I could down in a day.  There were plenty of port-a-potties, sports drinks and sugar, which is really all a girl needs when out riding.  The race was so well organized and the weather perfect with great views all along the way, plus the company was so fun and I was glad to finally get to hang out with Emily without the guys being around.  I loved it and am looking forward to the next century.
The only other small incidence was at mile 80 when I came to a stop and clipped out on my left side and there must have been a sniper in the bushes because before I knew what was happening I had toppled over onto my right hip, looking like a beetle that had been turned on it's backside and couldn't get up.  You just have to laugh when things like that happen I think I had too many gel packs in my right pocket or something or was just a little tired and not concentrating enough.  When I first got my bike everyone told me I would eventually fall clipped in and they were right, hopefully I learned my lesson.

Ha Ha I am glad you have fallen clipped in too! That sounds like such a fun race. I am also nervous for my first organized race. I just don't know what to expect. You will have to do my first race with me so I will feel a little more easy about it!!!

Sorry Michelle! I've tried to make so many comments on your blog before and it never lets me for some reason. So I wasn't sure if it worked. Sorry if you got like fifty, "Michelle you are awesome!" comments. It was a test run. Your posts are so fun. Your photography is getting good! Keep it up. I started a blog: toverson.wordpress.com
