We did the lake course first, which was pretty mellow we were getting pretty excited and feeling pretty athletic I think and talked all the way about how we could buy our own equipment and lap the golf course back at home. We fully intended on hitting D.I. when we headed on into Provo later that day to get all set up with our own gear. At the end of the lake course is the mountain course and at that point I think we were both feeling pretty brave and confident, so we crossed the road and started hiking our first steep ascent. Well things got a little hairy after that, turns out going downhill is a lot different when your heels are not locked down and are standing on skis the width of tooth picks. After quite a few wrecks and my mom hearing me yell up the hill, "Just don't break a hip," we were done.
The best part was seeing my mom come up a huge hill and ski down towards me without the jacket that was wrapped around her waist, luckily it didn't take too long to retrieve it, otherwise we were just going to call it a loss, at this point we were tuckered out, wet and cold. We got back to the lodge and ran our hands under hot water for a few minutes, regained the feeling and headed out. We were done for the day and pretty tired, we'll get our own setups another day. I'm glad I've got such a great mom with a good nature to humor me and my need for activity and leaving town for a day.

I have wanted to do this for a long time now. I did it in college a couple times, but haven't been able to quite convince my husband that skiing on a flat surface would be enjoyable. Your mom is such a trooper... I just hope someday to be adventurous and cool as she is.
Ah, the good ol' times of trying to go downhill with grace and style on skinny skis. . .just remember not to where fleece.
what michelle doesn't report is that she climbed a hill and half way down another to retrive the jacket! I relunctantly followed feeling it my obligation since I was the one it had dropped off of. My choice at that point? Buy her a new one? Such a fun day!! Thanks sis!
